front end started to vibrate

Driving up RT34 last week, the front end started to vibrate real bad around 40 MPH, and I heard a sort of grinding noise coming from the front. I would guesse wheel bearings, anyone ever have this problem on a Ranger? It has over 170,000 miles and the front wheel bearings were done around 70,000 miles.

With 100,000 miles on the replacements that's probably what it is. Especially if they were never repacked during that time frame. Raise front end and check it for play. Also check that lugs are tight.

Thanks for the response, I checked the lugs & they are good. So I bet it is the bearings....

I don't know if you have the 2wd but if so will have to remove caliper and spindle nut to remove rotor/bearings. If rotors are serviceable and you have a NAPA with a machine shop they could turn them and install new bearings/races/ pack it with grease and all you would have to do is reinstall, torque it to spec. and install new pads.

03, yeah, there is a NAPA right around the corner from my house...but I don't know if they have a machine shop...but I will find out ASAP! Thanks for the help.
