Are the brakes on the Edge better than past Ford brakes

My wifes '10 Edge Limited AWD every option badboy has 78K on the dash from driving all over Ohio doing sales. And knowing female drivers and brakes we can all say that this combination is harsh. Right?
Hasnt had a brake job yet. They started shaking a little at 70K, then harder at 78K. They shake a bit at 40mph now and im about to do them.
I have to say that this car has been impecable and suprises me all the time.

Wife's 07 fwd Edge had 35k when we bought used and the dealer said they put new brake pads on it at that time. I had to put new pads and rotors on the front at about 73k. I was about 50 miles from home when started hearing that metal on metal noise and when I got home they were toast. I replaced them and now the brakes are better than ever, even some of the free play in pedal is gone as it always had like 1/2-1/4 of travel. The old Explorer's pedal is always at the top when applying brakes. Other than that the car is great with no problems.

Well, just to let you know that Edges/Fusions are not alone in this--my '09 F450 will do about the same at a dead stop--IF I CONTINUE TO PRESS VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE. If I stop normally, and hold enough pressure to prevent forward movement, they do not depress any further. I am at 73000 miles and pad/rotors are still good.
Not sure if this is what is being described, but I don't have problems with stopping even with a near-panic situation.
Haven't had the MKX long enough to know whether it will do the same as the Edges.
Question to any of the above posters that are worried--does the car ever move, or is it just the gas pedal interference that concerns you?

We have just got a Brand new 2012 1.4 TDCi edge and the brakes on this are going to the floor sometimes.
Once it was from a slow start, and another today was while driving @ 50mph and i was pressing the brake pedel to slow down for a righthand turn in the road, and it sank to the floor and took 3 goes before it came back to the top.
I'm not happy about this, but from what i read on here its "Normal".
Its on a 3 Year Lease via where my wife works, I don't want to keep it but yet to find out whats wrong as its the weekend.
Any help. Its not our car but if its going on others then we really don't want it back.
