Steering Stabilizer
Steering Stabilizer
I have a 2004 F250 with a 6.0 diesel. I'm getting ready to replace my shocks. How can you tell if the steering stabilizer is bad. It doesnt feel real bads when driving. If it is bad, is it better of switching to the dual stabilizer. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Topgun Customz makes a nice dual steering stabilizer kit with you choice of shocks (basic, Bilstien, Fox). The mounting bracket is heavy-duty and is priced well.

I like the way the aftermarket steering stabilizers look on lifted trucks. On trucks that are levelled, I prefer the clean look of nothing there. My truck steers very well with the levelling kit once the caster angle issue associated with these kits was addressed. I will put Bilstein shocks on my truck and would like to find a Bilsttein shock that would fit to replace my factory steering stabilizer shock...

Thanks for the link!
The link was to the shock for the 2WD trucks (part# F4-BE3-F893-HO). There is another one listed too for 4WD trucks but up to 2004 inclusive (part# F4-BE5-F884-HO).
There does not appear to be one for the newer trucks, unless someone else knows of its existense?

Hi Michael,
On a 2004, you will definitely see an improvement replacing the stock steering stabilizer. For the money it's well worth it.
On a stock height truck, whether or not you go with a dual is really a matter of personal preference and budget. They undoubtedly have their advantages, but they are also significantly more expensive. As noted, Icon is one of the best dual systems around.
On the shocks, by and large Bilstein is the way to go from a cost-benefit perspective. They perform exceptionally well and won't break the bank.
Thanks,
