Coolant Temps

Okay this happened the first time ever yesterday....

Was driving I-15 back from Salt Lake City airport. Traveling at 73 MPH so about 2000 RPMs or so. I have the Edge Evolution and noticed by the time I got about 18 miles down the road leaving the airport...(traveled the 40 or so miles to the airport no problems). Coolant temp went up to 225 so I pulled over and almost immediately it went down to 192. Got out and checked no coolant puking or anything like that.

Got back in and traveled another 15 or so miles and the temp got back up to 225 which happened to happen when I was getting off the ramp. At the end of the ramp is a stop light. Hit that light and withing literally 15 seconds or so the gauge was back to reading 184 on the coolant temp. Drove it around town for about 8 miles and then home. No additional problems. Outside temp was about 47 degrees.

What should I be worried about? I am running the Evolution in Stock mode.

If it's changing very quickly I would think it's a faulty sensor or something screwy with the Edge. It would take several minutes for 7 gallons of coolant to swing from 225 to 184.

Normal temp is around 190.
Do you have heat in the cab that stays blowing hot when you stop?
Perhaps your t-stat is bad or water pump.
What's happening with your Oil Temp?

After a night being parked, check the ECT, EOT, & TFT.
The ECT/EOT are normally very close. The TFT cooler since it doesn't normally get as hot, but it's a good way to benchmark that all your temp sensors are working.

You should also let people know what you are driving, year, model and any other mods. You get more responses and better info that way.
