Heres a heads up to check your rear brake hardline next to the muffler. My trucks a 97 expedtion. The hardline developed a hole in it and the pedal went to the floor. The truck had zero brakes. It wouldn't even hold the truck at idle in gear. Fortunately the truck was parked and i was just getting it into gear. The hole appears to have been a result of rust on the line. The leak was located about 8 in from item 2a442. Thats on the right side of the image below.
I just experienced a similar issue with my 98 Exp. however I retained braking power to 2 wheels and was able to drive the car to my dealer. My guess is the master cylinder was redesigned for 98.
Mine leaked right at the bottom of the driver area. It was dripping, but I noticed the leak soon enough so as not to lose brakes. When I inspected it, the whole thing was rusting going to both wheels, and from the pump area. I found suitable replacement as I listed here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ake-lines.html
