Seems that I have lost the cable that goes between the camera and the computer. If I could find it, I'd love to show you how nice my 239ci Y-block looks sitting in chasis.
Got it mounted today!! Finally! It sure is pretty! The cable will likely turn-up over the next few day and I'll post a photo or two...
It looks NICE! I dont remember seeing rocker cover decals like you have offered anywhere. Say, if anyone needs a breather cap like shown on your engine, let me know. I have two good ones that are very close to getting thrown away. Free for the postage. Nothing wrong with them, but I dont need 4.
Mike, as I have four these engines in the garage, I need the breather caps - I'll take em. I ordered one recently and when I got it, it had chinesse writing stamped on it - not very original for my pure stock truck.
The decals are from LMC - I have also purchased some from Mid-Fifties.
Brian, I have just what you need. A 1954 4V intake and Holley 4V model 2140 4V carb from Merc 256 engine. Oh, guess they wouldnt be stock ha ha . Breathers were sent yesterday.
I stumbled into the setup. It is cool, because I believe it is the only 4V setup available that could be used on a 239. In fact I have been toying with the idea of going back over to Medford and buying the whole 256 . 223 pistons are the same as 256, so that would be a huge help. The small engine was rated at 160 HP. My former '88 chevy pickup with 350 was only rated the same HP as I recall.
With the right gearing, attention to compression, and cam a 256 could get some nice mileage, maybe 25mpg.
The last time I was over there was last fall. The 256 was complete, less the intake which now is here. Dont remember for sure if the ex. manifolds were present, but they may have been, since I recall having a hard time seeing the block ID. He wanted me to buy the engine, but I wasnt in a buying mood. I tried to get someone on Y-blocksforever interested but nobody was, or was close enough for it to be feasable.
