New carberator question

Hi guys I have an 1981 f150 with a 300 straight six. I got a new carb today and installed it . The carb has an elctric choke. The eletric choke from the orignal carb Had a wire on it and it was melted off does that wire run straight off of the altinater or can I run a new wire some where else. Also on the the driver side of the thermastat coil there is threaded port for something. The old carb also had the port with a metal line coming off of it but it was snapped about a half inch from the fitting and I dont see the other end anywere in the engine department. Does that have anything to do with vaccum and where would it run to. There is also another line that runs from the to of the carb on the passenger side down to the side of the block that appears to be ready to break off is that for crank case ventalation and is there a way I can fix that line? Any info would be greatly appreciated thanx.

The electric choke on the new carb is probably 12 volts. On your old factory carb if the
wire to the choke came from the S terminal on the alternator which supplies only about
7 volts. You need to find out if the choke on your new carb is indeed 12 volts. If it is
you can hook it to any keyed 12 volt wire. You can most likely find a source for a keyed
12 volt in the truck's fuse block. The metal tube you see on the old carb was a hot air
assist for the choke operation. It ran from the exhaust manifold to the choke.
