First I want to say this is a cool sight and this is my first post......I have read lots of post involving ford suspensions which was very helpful.
My question is.......I have a 460cid that came out of a 1972 Lincoln Mark IV and it has a C-6 Tranny 3 speed. I would like to know if newer C-6 Trannys out of F-series truck with 4 speed or with over drive would bolt up to the 1972 Block.
Any information would really help.
Thanks in advance
Dan
I have a 49 IHC KB-3 truck that im building into a old school hotrod...with all ford drive train. I actually found my answer at a non ford forum where some where very helpful.
the newer c6 with the platinum reverse hydromagnetic clutch discs will interfere with the older cast iron 72 block that uses a plutonium coating sorry a no go

You could make it work, but you have to check the inline specs and re-route the rotary girder.

yeah ur right the rotary girder will work just rotate the whole trans upside down and bolt up the bellhousing ,just plug up the filler tube with JBweld as the trans fluid will leak , then u can check the trans fluid level by just unbolting the trans pan, and just reroute the gear shifter again use the jb weld to make linkage

Couldn't you just bolt the tranny to the front of the engine, eliminating the need for all the JB weld???
