Power Steering Fluid

I am currently installing a TCI mustang II front end kit on my 48 F1. I have a power steering pump from a 1968 mustang and was wondering what component determines the type of fluid should be used, is it the pump or the rack. Also what type of fluid should i use?

Thanks

I don't know if your rack requires any special fluid or not.

In my experience with regular Saginaw pumps and gearboxes the best fluid I've found is Valvoline Pyroil power steering fluid (plain without stop leak or anything)
Something like this, although when I find it on the shelf it's in a regular quart oil bottle
Valvoline.com > Products > Power Steering Products > Power Steering Fluid > Pyroil Power Steering Fluid

Had problems with two different trucks and the normal red PS fluid foaming, In need of a refill for what bubbled out just by chance switched to the Pyroil because it was the only choice at the gas station I stopped at... to my surprise no foaming at all, made a world of difference and now it's what I use in my other trucks.
