Well fellas i might be joining your board. Im looking at a bronco finally. My old man has had 3 over the years. I loved every one.
Im looking at trading my 94 Reg Cab Flare side 4x4 5.8/E40D for a 93 Bronco 5.8l.
The bronco im looking at is a Florida truck with 179000 miles. Zero and i mean Zero rust. Not even the bottom of the tailgate. Truck was fully undercoated with some sort of rubber spray. The dealer wanted 4350 for it. I have him down to 2950 which i think is way way to much But well see what i get for my truck.
When i test drove it, it drove nice and straight, brakes felt good, power was a little less than my truck, probably due to extra weight of the bronco.
The passenger window motor seems to be broken (probably the plastic beads in the drive) The rear window switch is bad, but the window still went up with the key.
And the worst part was the shift indicator was missing. Apperntly broken off.
It does have brand new 31/10.50 BFG A/T's with it though. But i have some 33x 10.50 BFG M/T KM2 that are brand new for it already.
Hopefully my 94 sells quickly.
What do you think the bronco would be worth. Again body is mint on it. Very few blemishes in the paint.
I think it is worth it. My father has had a 70, 79, 88, and 95 broncos and he loves them. His 95 was a 351 auto and we couldnt kill the engine with 180,000 miles, and he finally got rid of it from all the years of plowing. But if the bronco you are looking at has no rust, I dont see why it shouldnt last you a long time.
I just pulled the trigger on a '94 EB with zero rust, 134,000 miles, and good paint for $3K. I thought it was a fair deal at that price, compared to what I've seen them going for.
Okay burnstough,
Here's my two cents worth. I have a '94 with 220,000 miles on it, 5.8l.
I' ve had it since it had 15,000 on it.
I just bought a '96 with 114,300 on it for $5200. Inside it is pristine, outside, if you look close, you will see a dent or two, but no rust. But, mechanically it is as good as my '03 F-150 also with 114,500. So In my humble opinion $2950 for what you describe is a good deal! I am on my third Bronco. I get sad when I realize they don't make 'em anymore. Which means if you get a good one, take care of it like it needs, and don't abuse it, you will be more than happy with the resale value. Me personally, I just don't see me sellin' for a while, I like to ride and see the others weep! Mark
What things should i look for that is special to the bronco.
I know it shares most of the same parts as the F-150. But i believe cracking is common above the doors since its a unibody. Is this a major issue? I believe the truck im looking at has a small crack near the lip above the door.
The rain gutter cracks (near the ends at the top of the "B" post) are common to the 80-96 body styles simply due to a lack of gusseting between the roof and the "B" post. Ford used to make a weld-in gusset that dealers installed but its been NLA for a long time. ALL Bronco's are body-on-frame just like their F-series cousins. The cracks are best dealt with by applying a sealer that remains flexible. You can spend a bunch of money and do the body work and they will come right back. They don't get any worse unless you leave them to rust and leave them open to the elements. Moisture damage is the result on the interior down the inside of the "B" post and the floor/carpet behind the doors. Seal 'em up and forget about it. The RED LINK in my signature goes into a little more detail about this issue.
heres the bronco im getting. Going to pick it up tomarrow. Excited to finally have my own. My dad has had 3 over the years. Very clean truck on the exterior. Needs to refinement on the inside, but not to bad.
Got it for 2950. Passenger window doesnt work, i think the plastic beads in the clutch are bad. Gear indicator is missing, and the rear windows switch on the dash isnt working.
