My 2000 excursion (TITANIC) has almost 170,000 miles on it. When do you think its a good time to replace springs? Front and Rear. My fronts seem fine. But my rears hit the bump stop even when im going over a speed bump. So let me know what i should do and is there a place online that sells good springs that wont cost me an Arm and a Leg????
I recommend replacing them about 150,000 miles ago.
Actually, you would really enjoy V/B springs on this dude after all those miles on the original D/G springs. I kept originals on my 03 for 180,000 miles. For the 05, I replaced them right after purchase at about 62,000 miles. The V/B springs ride much better than originals.
Forest mines is a 2wd. where should i get the spring youre talking about? I want a smoother ride but i dont wanna lift it higher i like the height its at right now. Also Its on 24" rims.

You can't use the front V code springs. The V's (W's, X's, etc) are for the 4x4 only, since they are leaf springs and you have coils up front.
You can however use the B codes in the rear.
To help us out whenever you ask questions, fill in your sig by listing the specs of your rig. You know, type of engine, trim, 4-wheel or 2, etc, as well as any mods. Just look at my sig if you need an example.
I have an 05 4x4 6.0 and 180,000 mi..i would like to change my springs also, would like to change to V/B code..everyone here says is a better ride. my questions are:
1..Where should I buy them brand new?
2..How much it cost?
3..Do i need to change or buy anything else when i install these springs?
4..Are these more heavy duty then stock ones ,as i carry a heavy
load inside the truck all the time..

To the OP, here is an old Post, about upgrading the springs on 2wd. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...n-upgrade.html
This will keep the X ride close to the Factory Height.
Springs are from a 2wd F-350, Z-codes up front, and B-codes on the rear. You can try to source the parts from PartsGuyEd (one of the sites sponsors), Ford Dealership or you can try your luck at your local salvage yard.
I personally have not done the spring upgrade, but will have to address my situation soon, as my springs needs some attention.
If you X did not come with a rear swaybar, I highly recommend adding the Hellwig!

It's a lot of reading to sort through, but the info will really give you the big picture...a clear picture too...and you'll understand so much better why we do it, than if I just answered your specific questions.
Stewart
PS - Do you own a McLaren, or do you just like them?
I've been doing some reading, and is overwhelming with all that info..now i'm a little confuse, is the X or W code front springs more heavy duty then v code?
Mclaren is one of my favorite supercar.. I wish i own one..
Now i just need to find an installer in ny that knows what they're doing with the excursion suspension..
Vinny Great link. Thank you so much. Lots of info. now Im only wondering if i can do this myself or should I just order the springs and have a shop install them.... I think Ill go with the a shop installing them...
Forest its all good. I will update my signature show that it shows my Excursions (Titanic) Specs.

Yes, the X and W codes have a higher weight rating than the V codes. The V codes are just more common since they are by nature, less of a harsh ride than the W's and X codes.

If you both have basic hand tools and basic wrenching skills, you can do the mod yourself. It's not difficult at all to drop the springs on either a 4x2 or a 4x4.
