1956 Dump truck hood scoop and engine question
So I was out and about yesterday and spotted a 56 Ford dumptruck (sorry no pictures) ( Yet) and it had a hood scoop. I couldn't tell if it was an F600 ?? or maybe bigger?? but got me wondering if the 302 Engine would of come in the f600 and smaller trucks or just the 272?? Is the hood scoop any kind of indicator of what engine may potentially be under the hood??
of course anything could have been swapped around over the years but ?? this truck looks like its just sitting waiting to be rescued
gonna have to get a closer look...
thanks
Josh

The 312 is a Ford/Merc Passenger Car Y block, not used in any truck. It's from the same engine family as the 239/256/272 and 292 Y blocks.
Lincoln based Y blocks used in big trucks: 279/317 (1952/55) & 302/332 (1956/63).
B6Q-9671-A .. Duct (hood scoop), Carburetor Air Cleaner (less grille).
B6Q-9672-A .. Grille, Carburetor Air Cleaner Duct.
Original applications: 1956 B/F750; F800/900 (B = School Bus).
1957 and later trucks use different ducts.
