I am planning on having a 40 series flowmaster installed on my F-250 and was wonder what should I get as far as inlet/oulet. By that I mean which offset center/center, offset/center. What is the most common setup out there that you guys have used. Thanks and keep the info rollin.
I used the Flowmaster 40 on my V-10 with the 3" center inlet and dual 2.5" outlets. This is pretty much the standard on most trucks with V-8/V-10 that want to dual out their pipes. If you want more info on the mufflers go to www.flowmastermufflers.com for your application.

Your location says Frankfurt Germany. Is that where your at right now? If u have trouble finding a 40 Original 3" I/O, since they stopped making em about two years ago, just get a 21/2 and widen the I/O to 3".
I Wouldnt use a 2.5" flowmaster, i installed one on my STOCK exhaust and it was quite restrictive. I quickly removed it......
It gave it a PFFFFFFFF sound, like the air just couldnt get out of there.
not quite sure tankhead, i know when we opened up a 2.5" flowmaster to 3" and installed it on my stock exhaust it sounded good till you got on it , then it sounded jet-like, very restricted. That is just from my experience.
well thats good to know that u tried that but wasn't satisfied. I was given that option but i wussed out. I like this 30 Series. Lot less restriction than the 70 Series that came w/ the cat-back. Seems to scavenge pretty nice as they claim. W/ this V10, bout as loud as I could probably, and some others, stand it. Been on a few test runs outside of town but no long trips though. It's not a big block but I think it kinda roars w/ these headers on it. I said kinda now. I guess I'll know more if I like the muffler on an extended road trip. Good thing I like coffee.
Interesting scenario on the PFFFFFF sound, that is what mine is doing at idle. Drives me crazy (short trip). This explains why the guy at the exhaust shop kept taking the muffler to the machine to enlarge the pipe. I wasn't smart enough to figure it out at the time. This is why I do 99% of the work on everything I own. The idiots put a 2.5 inch muffler on my 3 inch exhaust system. Think I'll go by there tomorrow and have a little discussion with the boys.
BTW, Does anyone know what the quiestest muffler for our V-10's are? Would it be a Flow master 50 series or a Gibson ?
