Looks like the Navy SEAL sniper team should go back to the range.
This guy gets 30 years in an American prison with 3 meals a day (and the food is definatly way better than he is used to eating) a place to live, TV, Books and Magazines, modern plumbing, work out facilities and who knows what else.
In my opinion, the pirate is winning while the US is losing.
At least he got some prison time, there have been articles indicating that a lot of the east African nations other pirates are turned over to having problems due to lack of jurisdiction or other issues.

Did you not know there were only three pirates in the lifeboat? The SEALs fired three shots and killed three pirates.
The fourth (the subject of your post) one was in USS Bainbridge's medical department being treated for injuries in the hijacking of the Maersk Alabama. How about doing a little research before disparaging the SEALs?

Then he never should have been issued quarters...should have left him to die with the rest of them.

That's not my point...my point was one should get the whole story before disparaging one of the best SpecWar outfits in the world.
Might want to also research maritime law, specifically the laws concerning vessels in distress/injured seamen, which does not make the distinction between sailors and pirates.

There was a program on where a film crew was on a NAvy ship that was tasked with anti piracy duties. They caught a bunch, but had to leave them go due to "insufficiant" evidence. Basically they threw their weapons over board so they didnt have anything on board.

Pirates are like terrorists....they have no nation or flag to follow.....killem all and leave no evidence. The Russian Spetznaz has a video on You Tube when they caught a pirate ship.
BTW...I have the utmost respect for Spec Ops teams and what they do.
While I think it's a real shame he didn't get knocked in the head at the time of the incident, it is disheartening to see how many folks here want the United States of America, land of the free, home of brave, a country of laws, land of due process--the United States of America, the shining city on the the hill for the rest of the world, the beacon of freedom, the arsenel of democracy--how many want the United States of America to act like Somalia.
