Making Performance Gauge Cluster

On my 90 because I am going to carb on my 351W rather than messing around with wiring to get the factory gauges to work I decided to go with all manual gauges. I am mounting them into painted sheet metal where the stock gauges go. When I get in the dash what kind of other problems should I look out for? Using the stock fuse panel, heater, ect. Can I just rip out all the stock wiring and get to work? Is the light switch fairly basic to work with as in tieing into it so the gauges light up?

All input is appreciated!
Jesse

None of the factory gauges are tied into the computer in 1990, so they should all work without the EFI. If you still want to replace them all with aftermarket gauges, you will just need to grab the illumination wire from the light switch and split it to every gauge. That's all you'll need for mechanical gauges, but if any are electronic, I imagine you'll need to grab a switched +12V and a ground wire. in addition to the sender wires and dimmer wire.
