How to wire my stock Gas Gauge

Some idiots tried to steal my truck and cut all the wires out of my 79 ford supercab.

I can't get the gas gauge to work! If I run new wires from my tank,One is ground and the other goes to the gauge..But to what side of the gauge? And do I have to put power to the Gauge? Since there are two posts on the back of my stock gauge. Pleeeze Help!! I need to know how to re wire my gas gauge.

thanks]

Your gauge should be wired to a circuit board with a large plug with wires on it. Find the yellow wire with a blue strip going into the plug. This is the wire that goes to the guage. Also coming out of the plug should be a black/lightgreen. This is the power wire going into the circuit board that powers all the gauges.

I I found the power wire to the gas gauge itself and it is dead ended. How much power goes through that wire?

A pulsing 5 or 6 volts goes to the gauges. You should have a sliver metal square thing on the circuit board. That is the guage regulator. 12 volts goes into the guage regulator, and a pulsing voltage comes out and feeds all the guages on the circuit board.
