Well It happened. Tonight on my wifes way home the transmission went out on the X. Taking it to the shop in the morning to get it fixed. Is there any thing I should do to it to improve the darn thing while it is out. I want it to last a while. It is a 2000 V10 with 121,000. Thanks Jeff
You'll find the most popular transmission builders on any 7.3 diesel forum will be John Wood and BTS.
If you look in my sig you'll see I'm a John Wood fan.
I've posted a ton of info over the years about JW's trans build. If you do a quick search using my name and the term "wood" you'll get a lot of reading.
I wouldn't even consider a transmission from anywhere else except from JW, and the BTS fans and customers will say the same thing about a BTS transmission.
i have a local tranny guy that i've used on 3 trucks and all are still going strong with plenty of miles. idk if you want to bring it into town or not. i'd look into a shift kit well its being rebuilt and a HD TQ converter.
goodluck! kinda sucks because my old '00 that was toatled had 121k on it and it shifted great.

Agreed. I'm in the BTS camp. It was great getting to watch him build my tranny in a total of 4 hours.
Brian is a great guy. If you can foot the bill, it's well worth the money. Give him a call. He'll answer any questions you have. He can ship one right up to you also I'm sure.
