Have a 2005 Expedition and a couple of months ago on my way home the check engine light came on and the truck started losing power and sputtering.....I had the troubleshooting codes pulled and there were 4 at that time. I then took the truck my local ford dealer only to be told there was issue with my cam phasers and it would cost about $1500, then a call later on from them and they made a suggestion of trying to flush out the motor and do an oil change which I agreed to. When I went to pick up my truck I was told that the issue was with oil pressure and build up due to using an after market filter. They said the repair could cost now $2000. They asked me to drive the truck for a couple thousand miles and then bring it back for another flush and change which I did but in the mean time was doing more research. My truck still has moments where it runs and sounds rough and not to mention my gas mileage has gone down, I use to get around 15 miles per gallon and now only get 12 miles per gallon. This last time when I picked my truck up I was told they wanted to do this a third time and hopefully this work b/c I may need a new engine. After doing some research I determined to start small and work my way up if needed....today I replaced the VCT Solenoid, reset the light and hoped it was the ticket, well it wasn't about 15 minutes down the road the light came back on and still throwing the P0011 code, not sure what my next step should be, wondering if I should try the VCT Sensor next but yet sure of the price or difficulty of work involved.....any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Instead of screwing around with all of these flushes, just replace the cam phaser. Take it to a mom and pop shop not the dealer and you'll get a much better price.
Post a new thread and I'm sure you'll get help. Include as much information as possible, "my truck has P0011, help" isn't enough info to even get started. Also include whatever troubleshooting you've done thus far.
