I would say do the ic upgrade if you can do it for cheap. I snagged mine for $150 + $50 for boots.

If your mpg isn't what your expecting check your turbo system. A boost leak kills mileage. I would say new boots. Clay's plenum inserts and new clamps may surprise you. And for a pretty low cost. I can tell when my crummy stock clamps work loose by my mileage loss.

I'm just a bum and haven't swapped to the fancy clamps clay sent me.
Don't think its my boots although I wouldn't mind new ones. I can build up to 25psi. I need to wait till summer to check the mpg again. Then I will really know. I will have to do injectors some day. I heard the single shots re louder, how much? I like how quiet my truck got when I did the frx from clay.

I'll be the one to call BS on this! I can barely get 16mpg with my truck empty with close to the same mods, how in the world are you getting that with a big trailer and load?? I don't believe it! Only way is that you have a self-propelled trailer and run your truck in neutral!!

On another note, we'll have to line up at RRE with our 6.4L's....yep, I got one coming. I hope I like it...

What size rubber are you running on your truck? I'm stock size with stock rims. I think that helps. And I'm not bs'ing you on mileage. That's when I'm running highway at 70mph. I'll drop down to 13-14 if I wanna get home. 75+mph.

Better get that 6.4 studded for rre. I will be running the 345 KEM tune.

What does your neighbor have on his 6.4? A Dpf delete is a must!! I gained a lot of mileage with that. I ran spartan tunes and KEM tunes and I will say the KEM tunes rock. I picked up 2mpg and a ton more drivability and power by switching. If I run empty and in my 345hp tune and keep it below 2500rpm I can see 14mpg.
Besides the DPF delete and a mild tune, the truck is otherwise stock. The truck ran good IMHO for the size/weight of the unit he tows around. I really tried to talk him out of it, but you have to let it go sometimes. One trip to the mountains changed his mind real fast. Here is the unit he owns.

Ring and pinion for the front are mostly inline across the board price wise. However we found out that the rears can get expensive real quick without researching and getting prices from everywhere. Not sure where he got the rear parts but I do know it was Spicer, not some off brand. Even Randy's Ring and Pinion wants about $1150.00 for the R&P(no 4.30's) plus another $275.00 for the complete install kit if you need all bearings and seals. Before I spent that kind of money for just gears and install kit, a little research turned up this...

HeavyTruckParts.Net - Detail Information for SPICER S110 Rears (Rear) #53599

Seems like you are in an area similar to mine. .If it has a gear in it, bend over...lol. The ZF6 in the F-450 is starting to have synchronizer problems(200,000 on tranny and original clutch). I decided to go ahead and replace it. It was unreal what the tranny and gear shops wanted for a replacement. I can go to Minnesota, get an tranny with all the upgrades( larger input shaft...etc), upgraded flywheel, pilot, and clutch assembly, as cheap or cheaper than the box alone here(Including trip costs). So in the next few weeks, I'm off to Minnesota.
