I bought one of those 5,000 lb capacity harbor freight bumper hitches. It bolts to the bottom of the bumper. Can it really hold 5,000 lbs? Not that I'm towing that much. I'm pulling 4000 lbs.
99% of the hitches that bolt to the bumper are fine but remember that it can only hold as much as the bumper, which I would Not put 5000lbs on the bumper and 4000 would make me nervous
look at the back of the bumper, check for bends cracks fatigue. any of this would seriously weaken the bumper
it will work, but it will be weaker than a frame type hitch
so long term if you need to tow much, try to invest in a frame hitch
mine was from uhaul and it was like $135 plus tax and I installed myself in about an hour with a helper
