I have a 96 with a powerstroke, and just inherited a 93 donor truck with a 351. I want to put air on mine. My question is, do I need a wiring harness from under the hood, or will the one on my truck have what I need already in it?
I would imagine the the truck is wired for it (just abandoned terminated ends...I think). I also believe you will need another water pump (with a bigger pulley) among other things
You wont need the water pump for the AC system, but you will need the wiring for under the dash to the heater assembly for the AC, as well as the directional control cable. The "Heat only" box is missing a couple selections from the panel that an AC system has. I completed my swap out, and it is a lot easier then a person would assume!
That's what I was hoping. I saw your thread Midwest Dually. Are those a/c ducts not already in the cab? I can take them out of the other truck. Should have every thing I need. I looked at LMC and it looks like the compressor is the same, but I will need different hoses for the diesel.
The AC ducts are the same, no difference in the tubing at all!
The difference comes in with the Fan control cable and the heater control tubing/wiring. With an AC system, there are more selections then that of the base unit (heater only), so you need the cable that controls it as its completely different, the flexi-mutli colored tubing assembly to the heater control. Other then that, it is really plug and play!
