I checked my codes and got 7, from what I got off the net that means a shorted isolation valve. Checked the resistance and 1 is 3.5(0k) other 1.6 (bad I think)
So I disconneted the hyd control unit, expecting a new code showing an Open isolation or bypass, but still got the same code 7. seemed odd??
Yes, been there done that. The codes are held in the controller unit, a brass colored, palm sized, metal box attached to the side of the transmission hump on the driver side, just above the level of the gas pedal. Locate that and CAREFULLY disconnect the large wiring connector. There are lots of pins that fit into this connector so don't just wiggle it back and forth to remove, pull it straight back and put it back on the same way to avoid bending any of the internal pins. Leave it off for a few minutes and then re-connect and see if this clears your error code. If not, you may have to replace the RABS valve unit.
Well, I finally messed around with the ABS and got the wiring diagram. Could find no faults with the valve, took the computer out and opened it up. all looked great until I turned it around and on the bottom were 3 large(penny size) areas of corrosin shoting out several pins. No good.
I picked up a valve and a computer for less than 10 bucks at the scrap yard, it is a RABS I vs the RABS II that was there. All again is working, no light and can gear the valve go thru its self test.
I hope the computer switch does not affect it. anyone done this?
