Is anyones 6.7 hesitating or "cutting out" when accelerating? Mine seems to do it after slowing up and then hitting the gas pedal. Has done it with many different tanks of fuel, before and after replacing fuel filters. Around 11,000 miles on engine.
I have a job 1 truck with the latest 400/800 flash, and some times but not always it seems like the motor looses all power after shifting from 1st to 2cd gear on take off until you let off the throttle and get back on it.
The shift from 4th to 5th is not as hard after the flash , but still shifts too hard. I'm hoping for a newer flash to come out to fix this .
I have noticed this with my Job 2 pickup. One time while trying to pull away from a stop, the truck would not move at all. I lifted my foot and then tried again, it pulled away like normal. I also noticed this while towing a heavy trailer up a steep drive. I have a feeling that the traction control was causing the hesitation in that case.
I've noticed this on a coast and turn (turning onto a side road from the highway for example). I press the accelerator, the engine sends power to the wheels (RPMs up), hangs (RPMs drop), then continues without issue. Granted this is all within a second or two but the engine still "gives out." If I was flooring it after the turn and the computer thought the tires would break loose and entered derate, that's one thing but I'm driving carefully.
I also have an opposite issue where the RPMs shoot up after a similar turn (not flooring it) but I don't really go anywhere. The transmission doesn't jerk and it eases into the gear it needs to be in and then it goes without issue. Again, only a second or two but it takes several words to explain what happens during that short period of time.
This actual issue only happens when it's cold and I hate when the RPMs shoot to 3k on a cold motor. Makes me cringe and I can't do much about it.
When I drive a little more agressive (put those horses to work), I tend to have less trouble so maybe I need to stop driving "normal."
...attempting to add too much power too fast or soon...that's my theory...our resident Ford engineer made a statement in one of the tuner threads to that effect. He said that there were many power limiting safeguards built into the programming to limit damage to critical parts of the drive train during full power acceleration. IIRC, when he commented on the tuner., he said something like "I wonder what will break first".
Yeah. I love this truck but mine does this. I have the 400/800. I get really hard shifts and the transmission has no idea what gear its wants to be in.

I guess they will take out those "power limiting safeguards" when a family of 4 gets crushed by a semi because the safeguards kicked in just at the wrong time....
...good point...I was not defending the practice...just pointing out an observation
Gotcha. Although many features (ABS, TCS, etc.), have a logical reason for existing -- like safety, this one clearly is designed to protect the truck rather than the occupants!
I always seem to have power when I need it, the hesitaiton is mainly when I am turning onto another road or let off and then accelerate. I have had the 400/800 flash as well as a newer transmission flash that made the transmission issues better. May not be a problem, just thought that I may have an injector or fuel issue.
I've found the same thing that seems to happen as I make a turn onto a side road.I thought it might have something to do with traction control telling the computer one tire is rotating faster then the other and thinking your having a traction problem the computer may be adjusting the fuel delivery to help correct traction. What ever it is, I agree it puts you into a dangerous situation trying to merge with traffic.
