The jerk that sold the donor sucked my son into shovelling out and moving the car infront and the donor. He had to get a friend with a 4x4 to move the car, then get a wrecker to tow the donor to the shop. The jerk told me he would take care of that 'no problem'.My son was so pissed he didn't even try to beat him down.
My son's using the plenum from the old truck. He's going to flush the engine out real good.

He'll do whatever is most expedient. He's checked it out on the web.The 97 has 14 more HP I believe. It has 180Km (110k Mi).He said it sounded exellent. He had to use the old tranny. The donor wouldn't shift while the truck was running plus the old engine has a new clutch. I feel like crap putting him through this!!! Thanks
Sorry to hear of the behavior of the donor seller. If it is any consolation, when people try to get me to do their work, I kind of discount what I will pay them by the hours of my labor. Use reasonable pricing, and just tell the 'person' that there will be a discount because of the hours of work put in by my son. I would also take any and all parts I wanted from the donor. Tires, wheels, tailgate, radio, lights, seat, doors, alternator, power steering pump, radiator, etc. you name it. Anything I could possibly use or sell...
The transmission may not be a problem, but it could be the clutch or slave cylinder. My Ranger will 'freeze' the pressure plate to the flywheel/clutch if it is left out in the rain, and it comes from a specific [unknown] direction. I just know that if I can't put it in gear with the clutch depressed, put it in gear before starting the engine. Then it will do a 'buck' or 'jump' when the engine starts, but apparently the rust is not strong enough to move the truck, but is strong enough to prevent engaging into 1st or Reverse by depressing the clutch with the engine running.
FWIW,

Thanks Tom.I only paid 250oo for the whole truck so that was good. It's just that he said several times he would take care of getting the vehicles out,"no problem".I keep my word and expect the same.He wanted the converter but he's not getting it.Thanks again
Hey, you might get as much as you paid for the truck if you recycle the converter. I have seen, and heard, of people having their exhaust system cut up while they parked at shopping centers, and their converters stolen. I think some get over $200 in recycle value. The repair cost runs into the over $1000 range on some of the SUV's that have been hit.

Wow,the seller did say they're worth a lot.My son said the body parts aren't compatible with mine (97 mazda to 92 Ranger)and that I shouldn't tow it with my truck for that distance. My buddy thinks I should tow it up here,I agree.(He offered to tow it with his '10 automatic with 50% more horses from his 2.3.)
