FT blocks
I have been doing internet searches for a used/dead FT motor to see how much they are for the day I may possably build a crazy FE.
I am thinking 428 bore 352 stroke for a crazy 396 like Holman Moody used.
How much would one cost that is a core,or even just a re-buildable a block?

The "396" was a 427 with a 352 (or steel 361) crank.

What FT has a 428's bore?
Any 360 or 390 is a good place to start, and can probably take more power than your budget will allow. Why fool with the FT?
For big power, the 445 stroker is the way to go.
You can make big power with the "396" set up, but you need the 4 bolt main block to support the high rpms you would spin to make such big power. And the FT is not a 4 bolt block.

The reason to mess with the FT is becouse is a much better block then a typical FE, and many 361/391 FT's can be bored to 428 specs with plenty of meat left.
Plus it could be a cheap way to get a big bore/short stroke big block.
My other choice of motor if the FT block is not an option would be a bored over turbo 360FE. Something with about 12-14psi, proper turbo cam, cleaned up stock heads, with the roller shaft rockers. I may consider the 390, but I think the long storke and rpm available with the turbo maybe a bit contridictory with the way I like to build motors.
