Ok guys this is about my name sake, i have a 92 F250 with the 7.3 idi.
My problem is with the fuel filter replacement. The head i believe you call it that the fuel filter screws into is leaking and the fuel filter seems to be frozen in place, no movement with a strap wrench except to rip open the filter. So i need to remove the filter/head assembly. It looks pretty easy except for the fuel lines coming into it on both sides.
What or how does the fuel line disconnect from the filter housing? The fuel line on both goes into a 90 degree fitting, with only one female end screwing into the housing. At least that is what it looks like. So how exactly am i to get this "leaky paper weight" separated from the fuel lines? Thanks and I hope it was clear enough to understand.
Also does anyone recommend any particular aftermarket filter assembly? Links or names would be welcome. Thanks again guys.
as far as i know the fuel lines should have screw in type lines with a wrench you should be able to remove them if i remember correctly.
also the replacement fuel filter is link number 3 in my signature. it elemenates the bottom bowl thing so no more leaks from the bottom and still has a built in port for the water in fuel light.
You can also go the racor style and eliminate the whole thing. Racor 230RM10 should suit your needs. Even has a manual priming pump for those pesky jobs where you lose the prime lol.
I use this type of filter wrench instead of a strap wrench I have never tore up a filter yet get as close to the top of the filter as possible to break it loose of course don't use it to tighten the new one Pennzoil 19401 - Oil Filter Wrench | O'Reilly Auto Parts
I have tore up the filter every time I've had to use a regular strap wrench.

my fuel filter was just about stuck on as well i broke my 30 dollar band wrench and got a pair of filter pliers and slightly pissed off and it final broke lose..
Nothing like my big set of channel lock pliers for filters!! Got tired of breaking, slipping etc band wrenches, and bought these about 3 years ago. I'll never buy another filter wrench again if I can help it!
