96 Ranger auto hubs mainenance.

I posted this in another forum but I am going to ask you all too:
My friens has a 96 Ranger w/auto hubs in the front. He has had some issuse w/sticking hubs (won't releas sometimes). The weather is nice today and I was thinking about taking it apart to see what I can see. Any maintenance tips before I get staterd???
Thanks!
(I did see whre RRanch said (on our trucks) to lube it in gear oil then let drip dry before slapping it all back in. I was just wondering what else I should do). (Can I put (parenthesise in parenthesise))?

dont use grease
dont use grease
dont use grease
and finally
dont use grease.

Use a spray in fluid or something like liquid wrench or some fluid film.
something that will leave a coating on the parts, but not gunk up.

The Fluid Film will help keep water out of it and not dry up.

Over lubricating can cause dirt build up if it has missing seals in the spindle assembly

Using grease will just cause hang ups.
Clean em up really good and and lubricate properly.

That's why I like gear oil. Grease is just too thick. You can clean them in some fresh diesel.

The best answer here is "Beer was not a factor, but it was in the vicinity."
