I have my ScanGaugeII in the cubby.

I don't have a Prodigy, but I mounted my Hensley Tru-Control just like this and it works fine. I have a very similar back up camera installed as well.

I have mine in the same places as 1975StroppeBaja and jh818. That way I can still get to the manual brake override lever on the bottom of the unit in a pinch.

Here's mine and have had no problems what so ever.

Edit.... nice switches william_04_x!!

I think is where I will put mine. I looked at mounting it lower (and level) at the bottom of this trim piece but 2 things bothered me:
1 - it would be a long reach to hit the manual override brake lever if I needed to and,
2- the back of the unit would be in line with the heater duct which could lead to premature failure of the unit from excessive heat build up.

That is where I had my Tekonsha Voyager in my F250 and in my Excursion. It's easy to reach and make any adjustments. I used superglue to attach industrial velco to the dash and the brake controller. I didn't feel like drilling holes in a nice dash.

Sorry to sound like a broken record...My Prodigy has been mounted just like jh818's for nearly 6 years now...never had an issue and it works perfectly. I like that spot because it is out of the way, accessible end you can SEE it...which came in handy when my 7 pin plug came OUT when I left Ben and Jerry's after making a very tight turn...thankfully I noticed it flashing between .C. and NC and then went to the .. display which told me I was without trailer brakes!...thankfully I noticed that BEFORE getting back on the interstate!

The Prodigy is one of the best controllers out there and for the money...it is very hard to beat. Some want a hydraulic controller like the BrakeSmart...but for ease of installation and IMO excellent performance coupled with very affordable pricing...you can't go wrong...

Mount it either under or in the cubby and you will have no issues.

Good luck,
Joe.

Mine was installed on the lower edge of the dash by the previous owner and I am glad!. I don't like holes in dashes and may last truck had some velcro glued to the dash by the previous owner for something. It pulled the tan dye off the dash! The previous owner of the X owned it since new and use it for only towing their TT all over tarnation for 160K miles. Prodigy works great for me yet, no issues with the heater or anything.

I just got my X last week. I am wondering the same questions. The Scan guage II fits nicely in the cubby, but I think I want to keep that for the phone & glasses, etc. I also have a P3 to mount and a CB. I was thinking the same things as most of you, mounting the P3 under the cubby and the Scan Guage II below the cubby, and above the P3. I would love to find a nice wood console to put on the hump to mount the CB in, have had no luck finding anything nice. Also need to find a handy place for my XM.
I cant wait to see how the X pulls our travel trailer.

That's where mine is mounted too. Works great.

Also note that some people are putting in the F550 and up? lower dash panel. these were used in the Ford cabs that sat on the BIG trucks. just another option. someone here has done it and has pics posted. it looks good!

wow - that is pretty cool, though I am not sure how you would mount a brake control to it. For guys who want mechanical gauges and switches, that is a nice set-up.

You could get one without switches and make that area a cubby for the brake controller and a pocket or some other 'things'.

Excursion - Mine is just a bit further left so I could get the satellite radio receiver mounted next to it.

The Prodigy is very good. On our Pathfinder it is on its side and it still works. Not really sure why it works, but I cannot find any place to put it.
