I've been searching for a week trying to find out the wiring diagram for my F-150 Ranger. It's a '78, and the key(ignition went bad). I have toggle switches laying around, and since it's just a work truck, I don't need a key. Can anyone tell me how to wire up switches to get this thing to fire up? I've searched this and other websites to no avail.
I have checked with Ford, and a replacement key assembly is nearly $100. If I knew which colored wires were for what(accessories, etc....) I could hook up toggles to them, and then a push button switch on the ignition, couldn't I?
I'm not sure which wires go to what from the key assembly.
Just pick up a key assy from the bone yard. They are plentiful. A locksmith can re-key the cylinder to your door locks or you can grab the door locks from the donor also.
