Just was headed to town to get 8 new glow plugs motorcraft and radiator started leaking in my 92 up high and bad leak. It is auto so has tranny cooler. where should i buy new one hate to go to salvage yard what do you guys think.
If it is a match to the old radiator and a lifetime Replacement warranty then go for it. If not check around at the other local car parts dealers It is worth a little to get the life time warranty unless you are planning to sell it soon. I have lost count how many water pumps, fuel pumps, alternators, etc Auto Zone has replaced on my 77 F150 I only paid for the first one.

auto zone has it for 305.00 lifetime waranty can have it tomorow i told them to get it. My trans cooler on current rad. is pluged so tight i could not blow thruogh it with compressor just been running external cooler now i can run both.
I just bought a new rad. for mine 2 weeks ago, and was told my truck offered two different sizes. The dimenson difference was in the height between the tanks. I went with the one that was in it but why the option?

Some early ones had a shorter wider rad, they are not interchangable
I currently work for auto zone (sorry guys i know its been a while since ive checked in)....anyways if you will check our replacement radiator is a solid welded ALUMINUM radiator. Little over 300 bucks but for a jam up radiator that has the same kind of seam welds as my old race car radiator i'd say i couldn't beat that...I purchased one last winter with satisfying results. If they have the thing in stock check cause it may still be the brass unit....but if you have them order it VDP (Vendor Direct Part) the aluminum unit should arrive.
He said it was next day, so it will be coming from the hub store. If they had it in stock, it can still be a brass unit though. The one I picked up a while back for the Cummins was VDP, but still brass. (fellow zoner here)
yea ive bought a radiator from autozone before and have been very pleased with it. the vehicle it was in was recently sold so i dunno if it was copper/brass or aluminum when i bought it i was to young and dumb to care. so its been in there about 4-5 years lol but for my truck it's copper brass all the way.... been told by many that copper/brass has a better heat exchange than aluminum..... the autozone site list it as copper/brass. hopefully its not deceiving
The suppliers have been switching everything to aluminum, heater cores and radiators both. It depends mostly on how many are still in stock as to whether you will get the older brass or newer aluminum. If it is welded as described, I wouldn't be too concerned about it, the tanks usually fail on the plastic tank radiators before the core fails.
Well it is aluminum just instaled it was not to bad. the aluminum one was was lighter that was a good thing setting it in was easier because i had to work around snow plow mount. My wife is on her way with coolant when i opened the box it was like a kid on christmas i feel like a duma??. Why would a grown man get so excited when he had to spend money on a 20 year old truck.
