Goose neck hitch

Hello gentlemen, I have a flip up goose neck hitch in the bed of my truck that I do not want. It works fine but I just dont pull anything with it. I may in the future get a 5th wheel but for now I just want the little square that was cut out of my bed. I've searched every junk yard around here and no one will let me cut a piece out. I'm open to ideas. I'm willing to give the hitch away in trade for the square cut out piece so I can weld it back in. Anyone want it?

So you want to weld the patch back in?

Have you tried talking to a shop that installs hitches?

What about leaving the hitch and putting a plug in the hole? Then if you get a 5th wheel there's hitches made to slide in the goose receiver.

Do you know what brand of hitch. I will take it in exchange for the patch if it is a B&W. See what the shipping would be and I would cover that too.

Why not put a pc of alum diamond plate over it? My flatbed has a pop up 5th wheel hitch on it - I had the same issue a hole in the bed I was always tripping over. Used 4 quick release zeus fasteners to hold it in place. Pop them loose lift the plate pop the hitch up and I'm ready to hook up the trailer

I suggest installing a bed liner. It will be covered with no patch showing.
You and i have similar trucks.

Clux has the right idea. Check around for local shops that install the hitches and offer them the same thing. Even if they wont take your old hitch they may just give the the piece needed. Then you could take out the hitch yourself and maybe sell it or give it away.

Yea, I checked pretty much every local shop I could find and seems none of them save the pieces. Makes no sense to me but whatever. Just figured I'd offer it up to my fellow FTE brothers. Surely someone would want this for free. And if it helps a brother in need then Im happy.

That "not just a little hole" is the reason i am suggesting the slide in version of the bed liner ( black plastic type material ) . I think the spray-in version will not satisfy you. It is like trying to repair a dent in the body by painting over it, just not good enough.
When i installed mine years ago i paid ~$150 for it, including installation. I do not know their current price.
It is your truck, the choice needs to satisfy you.

EDIT Looks like a plastic bed liner is in it now with cut-out for ball. Buy another and replace it.

Oh yea....I already have a slide in liner thats in the truck ( obviously it was cut out too). I dont really like them. My thought was I could get a piece from someone and weld her back in. I have the tools and know how...just no the patch...lol
I may wind up having to take our suggestion though. Thanks for your input.

Alternate thought.
Ask an installer to save the bed sections from a couple of installations for you (offer to pay for them-money gets their attention) . Swing by their shop once a week to show them you are serious and really want the material. Once you have what you need, thank them for helping you. If you already do business with one of these shops you have an advantage.
