2012 F-650 and F-750

Anyone hear any updates on when the 2012 650/750 with the 6.8l V10 will be available? The company my dad works for needs a box truck and it has to be gas. Their newest model is a 94' and its about done for.

I think the V-10 F-650 is supposed to be available to order 3rd. quarter 2011 as a 2012 model. My understanding is they are primarily being built for a large rental fleet. I expect they will have GVW restrictions. I am kind of curious how much longer the 650 and 750 will be around. They do not seel many of them these days.

They sell on average 140,000 units a year not to bad. GM is 100% out of the medium duty game so now U Haul will be going back to Ford for medium duty chassis cabs like they used to up until 98 when Ford killed off the gas engine in those trucks. The real question is where will ford be building these trucks now with out Blue Diamond???

Sorry, have have some bad information there. Ford sold less than 6,200 F-650's and 750's in 2009. I don't have the totals yet for 2010, but I doubt they were much better.

I think Ford should have sold their medium duty division along with their heavy duty division to Freightliner Trucks. Think about it. Most of the F-Series medium trucks were located on the heavy duty lots. With the closing of the Heavy Duty lots, who's going to sell and service these trucks, especially under warranty. I sure wouldn't go down to the regular local Ford dealership to order one from someone who you know knows absolutely nothing about assisting you in spec-ing a truck. Too much competition with various specs on their lots to actually look at instead of blindly ordering one from a sheet of paper.

Come to think about it, I haven't seen a new medium F-series on any lot in years. I wouldn't be scared to guess that probably 90% of the medium duty trucks around here are the International with the DT-466.

I dont think Ford should have ever sold their heavy truck line.

Its a shame. Those old Louis were really popular. Seems like they had a pretty firm grip on the market. At least around here in the northwest. Every 4th commercial truck is a Ford.

Of course anytime there's a vehicle with a 'look' that stays the same for so long it becomes hard to tell if people were ever updating or just kept running the old trucks.

Funny you should bring that up. There was talk Navistar was going to end Blue Diamond back in 2008 and Ford was talking to another potential partner, but nothing became of it.

+1. Hard to believe they only sold circa 6000 trucks last year. I still see more Internationals and Freightliners, but there are plenty of new Fords too.

Most Pacar dealers will service fords I'm pretty sure. I know the local Peterbilt and Kenworth dealers here both service heavy Fords.Only the Pete dealer sells them. Food for thought.

They use quite few F650's for the towing industry. I believe sales will double with the V10 addition. Probably sell a ton to the Natural gas companies, rental fleets, School buses, Landscapers, etc.

Krewat posted this article in the V10 forum so I figure I'll post it here since it answered my question and is a good read.

Its nice to see Ford is coming back with a gas powered medium duty truck. I think its a shame they dropped the V10 in the F-250 and F-350 trucks, as well as the manual transmission, but that seems to be the trend. My dad has an '08 F-250 V10 6sp manual. It seems to do anything my '05 F-250 6.0 and 6sp manual will do. I'm not much of a GM fan, but I hated to see them kill off the 8.1 engine and also their medium duty truck line. I know Dodge hasn't sold a medium duty truck since the 1970's in the US, but did sell them in Mexico up into the 1990's. I have also wondered about the future of the blue diamond trucks.

I realize this thread is several months old, but I've been trying to track down info on the 650/750 sales. Ford is moving production of these trucks to Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake. It's going to build them in the plant currently running the Econoline. The Econoline is being phased out May of 2014. Many are curious as to sales volume of these as we fear it isn't anywhere remotely close to the van.

Is there more than just these Ford models coming from the Blue Diamond arrangement? Meaning other truck brands? A number being thrown around cited Carlos Currlin saying the company built 240-260 Thousand in 2010, and sold 190,000 of them. I'm not sure I can believe that. Mr. Currlin was or is a CEO with Navistar.

Any info you guys could provide would be immensely helpful.

Thank you!
