when i turn my truck on, my speedometer needle goes from 0 to peg to 0, and when i start/drive it, that 'message' shows up on my odometer, i don't get my odometer #s, that 'message' stays there, and my speedometer stays at 0. if i hold the 'set' button in while turning it on/starting it, i get my odometer #s and my speedometer works. what gives?

Sounds like it's stuck in programming mode to calibrate the speedometer. One of the buttons might be stuck in, (trip - reset) or whatever they are labeled. Try pushing them both a few times.

were you messing with the wire under the glove box. There is a 1 wire connector there not hooked to anything in the dash frame under the glove box. Make sure it isn't grounded somehow.
That code means it's in self test mode if I remember right. If that wire isn't grounded then the PSOM is probably bad but I would take it out first, clean the big wire connector out real good with a pencil eraser and put it back together and try it. Sometimes they get corroded. Take the time to blow it out good and look for burned spots on the circuit board.
Also it could be a stuck reset button but I think you said you pressed that. The button needs to pop back up on it's own.
