Sputtered to its death.

Driving down the road and the truck starts sputtering and then dies. Wong start. I'm waiting on the tow now, but I'm curious what to be thinking about?

226k mi. Stock 7.3 psd. First warm day above freezing this week (in TX!!). Did my injectors finally take a dump? Bad diesel?

Start with the basics.

Are you getting a wait to start light?
Oil level
Fuses ok?
Can you hear the fuel pump turn on?
Batteries/alternator good?

That trick doesn't work on the 2002 and up trucks but it could be the cps.

I've witnessed that firsthand...

Yes, start with the basics first. Check Engine light on? Chances are all your injectors don't die at once. We can walk you through some diagnostics. Don't let a dealer snowball you if that's where you are towing it to.

Yeah it went to the dealer. Wait to start light yes, CEL - no. I hear fuel pump when turn on to warm the plugs. Batteries/Alt - I'm thinking are ok because it has juice to try to crank. It almost turns, but won't get there.

Just had oil change last week and havent noticed any puddles but usually only check once a month. The fuel was low, I was on the way to tank up. Tried to get fuel last night but the pump was going real slow like it was malfunctioning. I would've towed it home but I work all weekend (LEO) and won't have time to bang on it.

Maybe you just ran out of fuel. I hope the dealer treats you right. I try to stay away from them.

Temps above freezing should take jelling out of the picture. Out of fuel or dirty filter maybe, or both.

It started fine for them. They added fuel afterwards as a precaution. Been running fine ever since. I need to monitor the fuel gauge because it wasn't even fuel light low. I try to stay above a 1/4 tank. Weird but glad it's running.

Take the time and install a fuel pressure gauge soon.
The bottom of your fuel pickup may be falling apart inside the tank, mine did.

Your duckbill may be shot, too, allowing air to get into the fuel system instead of fuel.

It may be time to do the Hutch mod....

Link? I'm on my iPhone so searching is slow going.

Also - the dealer said my dust seals were worn on my front hubs. If need be, I could yank the axles and swap them out. If it is recommended, I will, but the stealer wanted upwards for $550 to do it.

They also said it's time for new shocks...oh the temptation....
