how do you guys think my 03 f350 1ton xlt does on gas now like 12 mpg's city and 15 highway? How bad will the gas be on 35's stock gearing and a 4in lift? and finally what mods can i do to make the mpg best as possible a tuner intake and exhaust maybe? i dont know please help me thanks guys
my bone stock truck gets 16 mixed driving and an estimated 20 on the highway. both of these numbers are driving like a granny and keeping the rpms below 2000 at ALL TIMES.
this week i have been doing a test:
i've been driving a bit faster, accelerating faster, ect.
i am curious to see what my mileage is when i drive at the same speed as everyone else on the road, if not a bit faster.
Same 45-mile drive (each way) every day, same driver, same load, same habits. I've been told 72 degrees F is the sweet spot and the math works out so far... I've been told to expect as high as 22.
wow those numbers seem a little high so if im on 35's i can expect around idk 12 city and like 15 highway
If your at 12 city/15 hiway now - then with 35's I would think you would loose at least 2mpg if not more. That truck has to work harder to get those tires rolling. When I changed to 295's I lost at least 1mpg.
look a little closer, Gordon-o is driving a 2wd, so he most likely isn't running 35's and Tugley is running a 7.3 powerstroke diesel so you can't really use either one of those as a comparison. rjfetz1 is really the comparison you should be looking at, although he is running about a 33? I have had both gas and diesel and I am currently running 35's with a v10, which believe it or not gets about the same mileage as a 04 5.4. and if I were concerned with the mileage,(its not a daily driver) it would be city = crap / hwy = not much better than crap. If you decide to go with the 35's just make sure you get load E tires so you can run the proper air pressure in them which wil help, a little.
