Just wondered what you all think of this. Can I use a SuperTech oil filter withe Mobil 1 in my 2004 4.6L? Also, how good is the quality of the SuperTech oil and oil filter? Thanks!
SuperTech filters are ok, I used them on my X's Quest for over 100k, changing the filter every other change to boot. Though I had no problem there, I'll continue to use MC here.
I put a Bosch Distance Plus filter on my previous change . I changed my oil this past weekend and had a hard time removing it (a real PITA). I went back to the FL-820S Motorcraft. Wally world has the best price in this area.
I always use the Motorcraft oil and filter. The oil and filters were engineered for use in Ford engines and for the small difference in cost I personally feel more comfortable using something that was engineered and manufactured for my engine. A new engine is a lot more expensive in the long run than the difference in cost of the parts, and the oil and filter are the most crucial parts in an engine.

Could not have stated it better myself!...........

Smile while you are at "Wally World" , because Big Brother IS watching you.
SuperTech oil is ok! But do not use a SuperTech Oil Filter!!!
Why not? Did you read the test where they tested better than most and when cut open, the construction was better? The filter is made by Champion Labs which makes filters for many different companies. The following is from another forum----"I checked into this as well. I received an email from a Champion sales manager. Here is part of his reply:
"In terms of overall performance, industry tests prove that the SuperTech filter is the highest performing filter at Wal-Mart and is also among the top performing brands of all oil filters currently on the market. The logical question that comes to mind is 'How can this be the best filter when the price is the lowest of all brands on the shelf at Wal-Mart?' The answer is as follows. When introducing the SuperTech filter line, Purolator Products bid on the SuperTech business promising to use their same filter media (filter paper) that is currently found in their top-of-the-line PureOne filter (which sells for $5.99 at PepBoys). The filter media is the key element that determines filter performance. In order to retain our business, Champion Laboratories matched the competitive bid by offering one of its top-of-the-line filter medias -- the same filter media that is used in the Bosch filter (which sells for $5.49 at AutoZone). Basically, due to Wal-Mart's considerable buying power, a competitive bid situation resulted in the SuperTech filter being produced with a premium filter media at a low private label price.
They make filters for Mobil, STP, VW, MOPAR, K & N, Royal Purple, Deutsch and many more.
Nothing against the SuperTech filter, but if CL does make the Mopar filter, I can tell you it's not the same as the Mopar. The Mopar is substantially heavier and looks like it has more going on in the business end (for what it's worth).
I have a been a Wix person my whole life. Are we saying that the cheap Mc oilfilter is better than the Wix? And what about Mobil 1 synthetic oil? I just bought my 06 Scab with a 5.4 and want to do what ever is going to keep the motor ticking for a LONG time.
