I know...i was saying be thankful they dont make ALL trucks do this inspection....we would go from a $29 inspection to over $100 an inspection. But you never know what MA will do in the future... remember what a big deal is what for all the inspection stations to get the dyno's for the inspections? and a couple years later...where are those dyno's? Oh Massachusettes.....
Gotta love the MASS DOT/RMV..."Department of Revenue Enhancement"!!!
I don't suppose it's any better in any other states!!!
Actually, short of california, that's the worst regulations I've ever heard of. In New York,(which has more than it's share of stupid laws) there is no emissions test for these trucks to be inspected. No dpf, no problem! I guess we are lucky for now... although I'm sure it's just a matter of time.
This only applies if you have commercial plates...
In MA...commercial plates are required if there are more than 4 wheels on the ground...or...if the GVWR is 10001 LBS or more. I wonder why the same rules don't apply to RVs???

Cuz they're not making money... they're having FUN!
Thursday - 5:30 PM - Worked with National Service all day and final determination was "Replace DPF"! ???
Friday - 12:30 PM - Replaced DPF - test drove for approximately 1.5 hours - different speeds and roads - NO ERRORS!
O.K., I've seen some pretty weird solutions in my years in the Medical Electronics field but this one still doesn't seem to make sense. Truthfully, I don't care - it's FIXED! I'm picking it up this evening... thanks for everyone's concern and good wishes! Later...

Does not make sense but at least it is working and you have a brand new DPF too. Did it regen yet?

No Regen yet but it's only got maybe 35-40 miles since install complete. The tune is definitely fixed now - the "Traction Control Light" is out, it's got genuine Turbo Lag and it just plain feels STOCK again.
As for the Super Flash, it's really just an existing one.. I'm not sure what all the talk of "Latest and Greatest, soon to be released" was? They gave me the Customer Info Sheet and it says Flash 09-16-9 and in the text on my Invoice, it says the same:
"CEL On - Tested and Retrieved Code 2263 - Performed TSB 09-16-9, Re-calibrated PCM and I/C"
The DPF troubleshooting shows the following and proves their point too:
"Called Tech Hotline and was instructed to monitor DPF Pressure PID at Idle and WOT - At Idle, DPF PSI was 1.2 - Should be no more than 1.0 - At WOT, DPF PSI was 8 - Should be no more than 5-6 PSI - Per Tech Hotline, replaced DPF due to restriction, performed DPF Reset Procedure and cleared Codes - Retest was O.K. - Test Drove - no further codes"
I owe a sincere thank you to the gang at Metro Ford for their effort in getting this fixed!
