Ok, my buddy Bill has forgotten how to type, so I am here in his barn asking you a question. Yes, with a beer.
Ok, he's got the '05 with the 6.0 and all he's done to it is the K&N kit and put an Edge Attitude Juice chip in it. We've heard from a couple of different sources that the chip will destroy the engine. What do you think? I mean other than he shoulda never given up his 7.3.
He drives it as a daily driver, plows with it, and sometimes pulls his Chrysler products around on a flatbed. He mostly wants the chip for fuel economy, and it's working - in stage 1 "mileage" he's averaging 16-17 truck by itself. He's worried that if he puts it in stage 2 "tow" or 3 "driving" there is a 5 and 6 too but he's wondering if he's really going to ruin his truck with this chip as long as he's good to the truck - meaning not racing it, going to my truck pull with it, etc.
The only problem he's had with the truck was a head, and when it was repaired he had the ARP studs put in both sides. So that much has been done.
Go back to the stock air cleaner! It filters better! The edge does not kill the motor but will kill the tranny as it does not tune the tranny. If he wants power/economy he should get a sct with custom tunes. also gauges to monitor the engine.
I had an '04 F-250 and ran the edge attitude on it but left it in 1 or 2, once in a great while I ran in 3 for short lived fun. I tried it in 5 too see what it would do and never went there again. The tranny could not keep up with the engine and it was scary. Glad I didn't screw somethnig up because that is how it sounded. I never had a problem in 1 or 2 and saw 19.6-20.0 regularly on the highway.
I know have a '06 F350 and have an Edge Evolution in it and wish I had the MPG i saw with that truck, knocking around 14.4.
