engine huffing through air cleaner. Help
huffing sound occurs only when i am towing my 5 wheel, never running empty. black smoke can be seen coming out of exhaust pipe. when i slam gas pedal to the floor huffing through the air cleaner stops. this has only happened a few time, any ideas?

It is what is known as a turbo fart. It is normal. There is no waste gate on the turbo so the built up pressure is released that way. It usually happens under load and you let off the peddle quickly. I can make mine do it driving through the neighborhood.

My guess is your EGR valve or turbo is getting sticky. Next time it happens, pull over, unplug your EGR valve, and see how it does. Have you ever had either replaced?

NO I HAVE NUT REPLACE NOTHING. hAVE TAKEN egr VALVE OUT AND CLEANED. THE HUFFING HAS STARTED ON THE FLAT AT AROUND 60 MPH AND ON THE HILLS. I;M THINKING OF PUTTING IN A REPLACMENT KIT FOR THE EGR VALVE. ANY THOUGHTS ON THE KIT THAT GOES ON WITHOUT REMOVING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD?
