There is a plug on the drivers side of the block.
Go under the truck near the rear, above the exhaust manifold.

Yes you will take a bath in it but from what I have heard it is the best place to put it.
The other option is to put it in a coolant filter housing if you have one.

You will get some coolant loss but not all that much came out when I did mine. You should prep the parts before hand, fitting the sender to the adapter (I used teflon paste pipe sealant) and have the sealant on the adapter threads before you remove the block plug. I lifted this from an earlier post I responded to...

"If you have the 6.0 then there is a block plug on the driver's side near the rear that you can get to from below the truck. You will need an adapter, Autometer part #2268, 16X1.5MM to 1/8NPT that fits the block and accepts the standard 1/8 NPT temp probe.

As far as wiring in a selector switch to allow you to monitor multiple inputs on the same gage, check out how I did it in the linked post. I currently have it set up to read front diff, tranny, rear diff, and coolant. I will add oil temp when I install the ESP luber and Oil Guard at the next oil change.

Hmmm.... I tried the link from this post and it didn't work, so here's the link to the post I lifted it from, seems to work OK from there.
