Standard receiver hitch?
Looks like a 6 pin plug that is broken and missing the other four. Used to be what everyone had before sevens, I still have one put on all my trucks because thats what all my trailers are. If it didn't have four more it is some kind of special wiring for something, a winch or something else. I had a receiver put on my 2010 f150, it got the basic xlt and didn't realize it didn't have one until I got home, I thought all trucks came with one. I was pretty mad. The one I had put on looks just like factory. I am glad I got a truck without it though because that way I got a 3.31 rear axle ratio so I get better fuel mileage and Ford won't put a receiver hitch on trucks with a 3.31 axle, which is stupid when you have a six speed auto you have plenty of gears to do whatever you want it won't hurt it to pull anything.

I've looked at the specs on the Ford site but I'm still not clear on this point. What is the standard trailer hitch that comes with an F-150? (I'm specifically interested in a Lariat if that matters)
I am assuming there is a 2" receiver hitches with a 4 or 5 pin connector?
I know that if you purchase the Trailer Tow Package, you get a Class IV hitch with a 7-pin connector. But I don't have a need that justifies the added expense of the package, and I'm wondering what you get if you don't order it.
Thanks

When i bought my receiver hitch it was on sale back then. I think you back into it if you select the 3.73 elect. locker. It doesn't show in the packages as an option to select from that.
My 2 cents. If ordering new... I would get the max tow pkg. It comes with a lot of upgrades towing mirrors, hd suspension, 4 and 7 pin connections, etc. Never know what you will need in the future. On my 2009 I think it was only around $100.00. Mirrors alone are $700.00 if purchased after the fact.

Ford only offers 2 factory installed receiver hitches. One is for a step-side bed and one for all of the other trucks. I don't think you can get a tow package on a XL.
As already stated, a receiver hitch is only availale with a tow package.
The receiver hitch on my '10 XLT has 2 different trailer light plugs.
