Ive driven the Eb in my SHO since 09 and drove one in 08.. I love it.. My SHO weighs 4200lbs and its quick! Mine is over 425hp now and in the spring will have over 450chp..
Ive been in the dyno labs and seen some of the durability testing...
comadvan, what do you know about the PCMs in the F150? Johnny was saying they're locked down tight as a result of the tuning and warranty issues that have been occurring with the SHO.
And on your comment about the dyno labs and durability tests, are you talking in-person at Ford Mo Co???
I also drove an ecobosst f150 4x4 and one with a 5.0 and I took the same route on the test drive and I didn't see any better mileage with the ecoboost but the ecoboost definitely felt quicker and reminded me of the 6.7 in my f350. I ended up buying the f150 with the 5.0 but would've bought the ecoboost if the pickups would've been equipped the same but for just running around the farm I couldn't see spending the extra $7000 they wanted for the f150 ecoboost as it was loaded with options as compared to the xlt 5.0 I bought.
Heck, the more I look at that Torque curve chart, the more I want to see Ford do the EcoBoost Tow Off contest, they did with Chevy and Dodge, against the 6.2L!
Maybe we should start a new thread called Performance: 3.5L vs 6.2L
This chart shows the 3.5 Ecoboost crushes the other engines. I'm really surprised they even offered the 5.0 when the EB easily kills it in every concievable test possible.
Oh 1 thing the 5.0 has a better exhaust note.
I wouldn't doubt that either. Though if exhaust note was important, a Chevy 5.3 would be pretty decent. I actually really like the silence/refinement of the EcoBoost. I was hoping it wouldn't just be a whimpy sound. It's not whimpy sounding, it's just very smooth, quiet and refined. In sound and performance delivery. I don't think I would miss the V8 exhaust note to be quite honest.
I drove both the 5.0 and the 3.5 today in crew cab 6.5" box XLT 4x4's and to my shock I am more confused than before I drove them.
I started looking for a new daily driver and found that the F-150 would work for me, I also have a 31ft TT that is 8500lbs wet that would be nice to have the option to tow it around as well but not as a dedicated hauler.
So after all my reading and video trolling I came to think that the V-6 was the way to go with the economy and the bigger towing capacity, (although I am a V-8 guy and have a hard time thinking this V-6 can compare) but I have to admit I loved the response of the 5.0 and yes it sounded good too. The tranny was like everyone said-spot on and pulled hard, much better than the 5.4 for sure. The 3.5 was also impressive however it did seem to be different, but not in a bad way just it did have a different power delivery and was very quiet as compared to the 5.0 it did make good power and is very sleek if that makes sense.
The fun in me says get the 5.0 as it felt so aggressive and strong, although heavier of the two on fuel and cant pull as much if you can believe that vs the six and is past my comfort in capacity.
But the Ecoboost will haul my goods and get better fuel economy as a daily driver as I intend it to be, I guess if I listen to reason then that would be my choice but that 5.0 was amazing for sure.

H.R.T., what did you think of the 6.5 foot bed on the SC cab? I've been going back and forth on the 6.5 and the 5.5. Any thoughts on one over the other would be great. (Sorry crew I know this is a little off topic, but didn't think it was worth a new thread.)
