Anti Theft Devices

I was wondering what everyone is using for anti theft devices on their trucks. I just had a Ravelco device installed on mine. It comes with 2 plugs and the truck will not start without it. The install took about an hour and a half. I'll grab a few pictures of it when I get home tonight. Here is a link: Ravelco - Ford Super Duty Page

How does one steal it now with the factory system without the keys or a flatbed?

??
The plug just interrupts the ignition. You still use your factory key. It does not mess with the factory alarm. Obviously, a flatbed can take any vehicle that fits on it but most thieves don't drive one of them around.

Seriously this time, would that plug then in essence, prohibit the remote start, factory or after-market, from working?

what Rickatic is saying is the new passive system has a chip in the key that reacts with the ignition system, same one that was in place on the F150's is now on ours. If you punch out the ignition key, you still can't start the truck .

You will not be able to remote start it unless you leave the plug in the truck

Good to know. Glad I got the Ravelco though. Thieves have so many ways to bypass stock systems.

Ricatic's question is still unanswered. Doesn't the thief have to have one of your keys to start the truck or is there a way to defeat the factory anti-theft?

Some smart bad guy will probably find away to defeat it, or show up with a flat bed. But for now, yes, the thief needs the factory key that is programmed for that truck. In reality, I'm pretty sure there are people that can scan the system with pirated software & a laptop, program the key, and be gone in 60 seconds.

Programed keys are great concerning amateur's, but I think the pro's will eventually figure out how to get around them.

Concerning flatbed's, not much you can do their. Hope they can't start it for loading on flatbed. Always turn your wheels so it makes it more difficult.

I still think the best deterrent is a hidden kill switch, but I can't figure out what wire to cut and where to hide the switch. Any ideas?

I use my remote start a lot. Any device that disables the remote start is not for me.

Regards

I installed an alarm system in addition to the factory system, just that the one I installed has a beeper remote incase I'm in a restaurant somewhere and someone breaks in, then I'll be paged when the alarm is tripped. The only pain is carrying two remotes. Was thinking of hooking up one of these remotes to the train horn I have installed to create a little more attention incase the vehicle is broken into.

You would think someone would have a system out there that works off a shock sensor that would send you a text message/call to your cell phone (who nowdays don't carry a cell) notifying you that your vehicle is being violated. Then you could hurry out to your truck and shoot the punks, since everyone should have a CHL and this would prevent it from happening to someone else. If they did get away, this same system allowed you to track you vehicle through a GPS signal, (again from your smart phone) so you could follow them and then shoot them. I HATE THIEVES!!!!!!
