mine is code A. so from what I'm understanding based on my engine i only have one automatic transmission option? is it possible to do some fab work to get a different transmission to fit?

I was referring to the cruise o matic but I think I am going to take a closer look at rebuilding what I have. The truck for the most part is original and I am starting to think it will be more fun to keep it that way. If the rebuild turns out to be too much trouble I might try the CV swap and maybe do power steering while I am at it. Thanks everyone for your help and input.

Most of my vehicles are manual transmissions. You go to the tranny guy once and see what the bill is to replace an auto and you see why getting under the truck yourself and replacing the clutch is so much cheaper. Improper clutch pedal adjustment can will make it sound like a bad clutch or syncro.
