I am looking at buying a 67 F100 4x4 with a 352 in it. I have been doing some research on that motor on here and some people say its good some say its a boat anchor. Basically i'm thinking about buying it because i like the body style and the factory 4x4. Kinda hard to find around here.
It has a 4spd Manual
lock out hubs
headers, dual exhaust
edelbrock performer, 4 barrel carb, intake, and cam
new radiator
white spoke rims
interior in good shape
exterior is in fair shape. 2 small dents and a little bit of surface rust on the passenger side
The guy wants 2500 OBO i thought i would shoot for like 1800$ is that overpriced for this Pickup/motor combination
Also would this engine be good enough for just beating around the place for fencing and just going to the field and back. And occasionally pulling a 16ft stock trailer

people always dog the 352, as well as the 360. they are both good suitable motors. it's the same as a 302 and a 351w. same motor just more displacement, and truck guys always want more power. i'm sure someone will post something along the lines of "dump that and get a 390" but once again same motor more displacement. i think you'll be happy with the 352, as for price, that's more of a regional question and without pictures it'll be hard to get honest answers here, and welcome to fte, all the answers are here, they just might be hard to find
This is the picture.
I am not looking for a power plant. I have an 04 Ford to pull my big trailers. I'm just looking for a nice older pickup to have around the place and pull my smaller gooseneck trailer. I would like to find a 3/4 ton but they are really tough to find in a 4x4 in them years

1500-2000$ would be a reasonable price to me for what i can see. with the granny 4speed and v8 you should be able to get most loads around fine, but the f100 springs might bottom out easy, maybe look into an add a leaf or new rear springs. and i would go easy on starting out pulling any load with an old 1/2 ton or less drivetrain, no jerky starts unless needed.
ya i know what you mean. i have never owned a half ton for that reason. but i think an add a leaf or even some air bags would take care of most problems with light loads.
Also how hard is it to find parts for these motors. Is it like an online only kinda deal or do most local parts stores have parts
you can generally find stuff like alternators plugs wires cap and rotars and such at most parts stores, and some other parts as well but they might have a 1-2 day wait while they're ordered. but finding major engine parts like heads and intakes are gonna be online, junkyards, swap meet, or classified
Looks like a good truck with a good pricetag. The good thing about that truck is it's way easy to just throw Ina bigger rear and springs. The 352, 360 and 390 are the same motor with different guts so if it's too underpowered or gets a little worn it's as easy as it gets to upgrade to the next step. The 4x4 driveline is simple and strong.
I think it's the perfect truck for the job.
Welcome to FTE and I hope things out for you and we create another bumpside nut..
found another one guys!!
69 f100 green 4x4 rare! manual tranny chrome aluminum rims and tool box. it has brand new brake system and also brand new water pump, starter ,and brake fluid resivoirs, 390 motor works great it just needs timed 600$ best offer!!!!
He's emailing me pictures i'll post them as soon as i get them
it is all original stock except for the rims and steering wheel and has a couple other features and it has 2 small rust spots by the doors and a small amount of surface rust in a spot or 2 it has really only 3 dents one on each side of the box that arn't very noticeble and the hood is dented in a spot but he has another hood. four wheel drive works good and the clutch works ok and engages good to shift but kind of needs a new spring which is a easy fix.
Sounds good. I just confirmed last night as a matter of fact, that 390's were NOT even an option for the '69 4x4's. That I'm sure means very little to you at this point but I thought I would throw it out there. The V-8 option was the 360 which is what Vern has under his hood, he is also a 1969 F100 4x4
Vern
yep the 390's where only in the 2x's the 360 where in the 4x's. i have a 72 f100 4x4 well i have most of it haha (under construction). but the 360 is strong. i have put a tone of tomato's in it and never bottomed out but the 9" rear did not like it. i lost the driver side axle that trip. but it is a beast. i also have a 67 f100 with the 352 and it is a go getter. in fact i got a ticket doing about 100 when i drove it.
I agree, I read a lot of posts and articles that make the 360 sound like it should be a lawn mower engine. Mine has done everything I have ever asked of it.
Vern
Wow i'm glad i asked on here. I called the guy and told him that the 390 was not an option. And he said he was advertising it for his uncle. So i called his uncle and he rebuilt a 390 and put it in place of the original 360.
ya thats what the seller of my 72 told me. haha the bad thing is the only way to check is to look at the stork 369's=3.5" and the 390's=3.75 also the crank on the 360's have a half moon cut out of the back plate where the flywheel bolts on the 390's dont. but ether way the fe motors are bad a##. good luck on friday
