Ok, well I guess I had an oil leak that was getting on my clutch. I looked at the rear main I replaced and it show no signs of a leak. But oil is coming from somewhere. The truck won't pull itself. I am going to have to tear it down again..... Oh hell I need the practice anyway right???? NOT! Any ideas where it might be coming from? I know it is useless until i get it apart. Just thought I would come on here and just ramble about it. You guys are like my focus group and therapy group all rolled into one! I am SO NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS. You know....for a NOMINAL fee I would pay someone to do it..........
I know how ya feel having to replace something repeatedly, I'm actually thinking about trading my truck for a chevy with a 454 lol
so you pulled inspection cover and theres no oil you can see? it could be running from somewhere up on the block, when my fuel block off plate( where the lift pump would be) was leaking the oil was running all the way back the block onto my transmission pan, so I would crawl under with a flash light and take a look at everything thats possible
my oil pan leaks and it all goes down and back when driving and it collects in the inspection cover. Makes a healthy mess. Looks like it leaks more from the area near the rear main where the oil pan seals and it looks like it is coming from the rear main but none of the other tell tale signs like wet flywheel and larger mess in that area. My flywheel was actually spotless so the ford guys looked elsewhere and found the intake valley pan gasket and oil pan to be leaking. I took care of the intake gasket but the oil pan waits. lol.
Check the oil pressure sender it is at th top of the motor all the way on the back passanger side. The top of the zf5 bellhousing has openings in it. If the sender is leaking it will run down the back of the motor and in the top of the bellhousing and right onto toe clutch
The black one is a 4wd and yes it is that one. I just put the clutch in it about 4 months ago. So NOW I get to do it again. I did not get the new one.. I had a bad check from a customer and when I finally got that settled the kid decided to keep it.
I know the sender you are talking about. It is going to be a bitch to get to, I should have done that when I replaced the clutch last time....damn...........
