VIN Engine codes

Hi all,

I'm looking for all the different engine VIN codes (8th digit) for the diesels up to 95 or so ... Any help ??

1 = 6.9L
M = 7.3L N/A IDI

Specifically for the IDI Turbo and Powerstroke ...

Thanks

-Enjoy

I = 6.9 IDI
M = 7.3 IDI NA
K = 7.3 IDI turbo
F = 7.3 DI turbo Power Stroke

I would have to look hard to find it, but I also seem to remember a C = 7.3 IDI NA

Not sure about these

P = 6.0 DI turbo Power Stroke
T = 6.7 DI turbo Power Stroke

Thank you all ...

"K" & "F" is what I was looking for specifically ...

I'm looking at a couple of 94's, want to make sure what motor they are ... Both say they are Powerstrokes.

However one is an automatic and as I understand only the IDI had Auto in 94, thus it must be a Turbo IDI, the other is a 5spd so it could be either.

Waiting for response to the 8th digit query from sellers, I am in hopes the the 5spd is "K" ...
I called him during the game and he said he call me later, I'm impatiently waiting!

94 auto tranny = IDI
94 five speed = either Stroke or IDI

I finally, got the 8th digit on the 5spd truck, it is "K" ... A Turbo IDI, it's a 2FT truck ... Whaaaa!
Built in Canada, originally sold in Florida.

I am currently setting here waiting for a call from someone placing eyes on it for me.

There is a concern, it had water in the oil, oil in the water, cooler was just rebuilt at Ford, cooling system flushed and oil changed, it's been used little since, owner bought a new chevy, hopefully it was the cooler! Supposedly only has 107k on it.

I would rather have an 83-86, finding one in quality shape has been far from easy. everyone I've seen is in dire need of special attention, I cannot spend the time resto/modding one right now, already in the process of doing an 86 ExCab, I need a truck NOW!

Thanks for every ones input.

whats wrong with a factory turbo idi?
lol yeah,you ain't kidding about finding a 7th gen still worth a lick in Maine.we have some 70's rig still going around of course,but those are few and far between and half those are just garage kept resto trucks that are no longer for anything serious.summer/play trucks only. a few old beaters all rusted out,but kinda worthless for anything.very few 20+ yr old trucks "in between" that can actually still be used/pass safety inspection,yet not so valuable you can't still use 'em.
kinda have to stay 90+ right now to find the "still good,yet usable" trucks for the "most part". there's always exceptions of course here and there,but holy cow im surprised you even looked for such an animal in Maine.stinking rust.

Not, it's out west ... if it was within a 1000 miles I'd be laying eyes on it myself!

Fortunately, I have someone I trust with my life that can do the whole deal for me including storing it till I can go get it.

I gave up looking within a 1000 miles a couple years ago.
