Need to transfer the middle molding (in the dent) with black rubber insert from one bed to another. Any tips, tools, secrets on removal and install? never have messed with these and have always wondered... Thanks, Dtodd
courtesy of Dennis Carpenter's catalog. Here is a look of where the clips are. The rear one, you'll have to remove the tail light and the middle one is a little tough to get at, but not bad. Once you have unbolted those 2 clips, the molding pulls of relatively easy from the others. The other mounting clips are held on by little pegs and you can take them off and put on the other bed. The molding will snap right on.
Thanks Buck! so there are only two places bolted on and the others snap or pop off? Mine is a 6.5" bed I thought there might be a bolt on the front? By the way hows that 521 run, been collecting parts for my stroker for years. You kinda scare me with your milage I thought the 10+/- I get now with my 429 was bad.
There shouldn't be a bolt on clip on the front. If there is, I'm not sure you could get to it.
I'm still working out some bugs on my motor. It has a 10.5:1 CR and I have set it up for E85 and also using a DUI distributor so I'm still trying to get things worked out to run the best. E85 seems a bit temper mental on adjustements. I did get 8 MPG with one tank. I'm thinking about throwing a regular Holley carb on it to see if I can run 92 Octane. I do have aluminum heads so I think I may be able too. This is my first real project and so I'm still learning as I go. But, when the truck is running well, I'm impressed.
