Need help, Im in the process of replacing the key switch in my 90 bronco 11 cannot get the key switch out. truck has tilt wheel ive done a hundred c%$^ys but no fords can any one help thanks in advance. chuck
Usually I remove the upper, tilt the wheel up, remove the tilt handle, then remove the lower shroud. Tilt handle has a little flat spot to put a wrench on if the handle is hard to unscrew. I think 6mm fits.
Disconnect the one wire harness.
Insert key. Turn to on position. Press button/tab on cyl. Pull out.
It varies. Usually on the top ridge, right hand side. Been two years since I did a Bronco II, but, there should be a hole in the steering column housing where the lock inserts that has a hole into which you can stick a small screwdriver (about < 1/16 wide) or test lamp to push the button.
All the instructions for drill this or drill that and for removing the steering wheel is for when you do not have the key. The reason I can't remember exactly what I did to my (86) Bronco II is it took me less than 15 minutes.
If it appears stuck because the lock is worn out, keep pressing in the button while you wiggle and jiggle the lock assembly in and out and about. When the lock is totally gone I disconnect the battery in case I have to force it into the RUN position.
