help identify component

Iam having trouble starting my truck,I noticed this component was making a lot of noise when trying to start my 2007 f350 hd. Sorry for the picture quality,it is on my album page,couldnt seem to attach here. Thank you

What was the general location around the motor when you took this pic? Is this looking from top, bottom, driver's, passenger side?

top down view

This is on the passenger side of the truck,it is mounted on a bracket closer to the rear of the engine compartment.There is an electrical connection and some small tubes coming from it.

Any idea why this would be making a lot of racket when i try to start the truck.

To create vacuum for your truck. It comes on when the key is turned on and I believe while cranking as well. Can't hear mine while cranking or with the engine running because of engine noise.

Make sure vacuum lines are connected my made noise we a hose came off fitting for the ac/heater diverter..

Thanks guys, Iam going thru the no start checklist...I charged the batteries over night.It has gone from trying to fire up now it seems like it's not getting ignition. Iam going to check the electrical, ficm ect.

the only way a diesel gets ignition is threw compression. if you aint getting that you have an issue.
